Hello, and let me say welcome on behalf of all of us here at Ammy. (That's what we call our school, Amon Rapp Film Academy just does't flow that well.) So you'd like to know all about this place? Okay.
What are the dorms like? Well, that depends on which dorm you choose.
Lots of people live at Liz-Blue (The Liza Monday Building). It's our only CoEd dorm, and is completely ridiculous because it's a 24-story high sky scraper in the middle of nowhere. Well, I guess the best film school in the country isn't nowhere, but you get the picture. But Liz-Blue has big, nice rooms, and it's own green, so no one minds being a Blue.
If you're a guy, you can either stay at M/Y or Fletch. M/Y is short for The Maxx York Building. Being a Maxxie also gets you big rooms, though they cost more. Maxxies are mainly rich-kids, but since all the R.A.s are so tough a lot of parents pay extra to get their kids in there and keep 'em out of trouble.
Fletch refers to The Harley Fletcher Building. It's a big concrete haven for parties. The R.A.s are more likely to buy you a beer than take yours, and since there aren't any official frats, this is where you go for that kinda life (Even though you're only supposed to have two or three guys a room, you'll often find more like eleven come Monday). Fletchies rock.
If you're a girl and you don't want to be a Blue, then you can go to Kali or The Cottage. I'll talk about Kali first, because you can only stay at The Cottage during fifth and sixth years. The Kali Thomson Building is built the same as Fletch, but as far as party life, Kals aren't that interesting, though it gets pretty good on the top floor, F7. Kali has the same two to three person rule as Fletch.
As the saying goes, 'Everybody wants to be a Kat.' We call Cottage girls Kats because the building's real name is The Ira Katsaros Building. The dorms are small, you have to share them, and the R.A.s are hell if you get in trouble, but it has the best atmosphere of any of the dorms. Huh? You want to know why it's called The Cottage? Because it's only two stories high, it's the oldest building here, and it has wood siding.
Okay, so now that you know your dorm options, lets move on to food. You have three choices here. You can go to The Catch, if you want substandard food at a substandard price. If you can cook, and you have access to something to cook on, you can go get groceries at Ma Jones'. Most kids, however, go to Squidy's. It's a pizza place, and the only real restaurant in town. If you're feeling brave, you can fork over $8 for their 'Everything Known to Man' pizza. Every topping they serve, ground into a paste and put on a pizza. But mostly that's reserved for the Kats vs Kals eating contest on the last Friday in February.
Now, you want to know just what you can learn here? Well, there are six course groups, and most kids take one or two. There's screenwriting, directing, filming, acting, special effects, and stunt work. A lot of kids start off taking stunt work as their second, but most quit because it's too hard, not to mention terrifying. You only take two classes a year, one in the spring and one in the fall, but we have a six-year program.
Entertainment? Well, it's pretty sparse 'round here. You can go get a video at Video Rentals (yes that is their real name). Or if you happen to have $200 laying around the Blue Hound Caves tours are amazing. If you don't mind ignoring school rules, you can hop the fence at Blue Hound Canyon and swim at the stream's bottom, but its current goes down into the caves and a girl drowned doing that so it's not so great.
Anything else?
